Photo archives, maps, and stories about World War II, during which Hedel was almost completely destroyed, and about the village’s role as a border and river settlement.

Kleindierwandelpark Hedel is a charming small animal park in the center of Hedel, perfect for a relaxing walk with children or animal lovers.

Monument Irene brigade
The Prinses Irene Brigade Monument in Hedel commemorates the sacrifice of 12 soldiers from the Royal Netherlands Brigade "Princess Irene" who lost their lives during the liberation of the town between April 23 and April 26, 1945.

The Princess Irene Brigade was a Dutch military unit formed in the United Kingdom in January 1941, consisting of Dutch soldiers who had escaped the German occupation. They played a significant role in the liberation of the Netherlands during World War II, including the battles near Hedel in April 1945.
